Pascual 马丁内斯-Forteza

A native of Mallorca, 西班牙, Acting Associate Principal 和 E-flat Clarinet Pascual 马丁内斯 Forteza joined the New York Philharmonic in 2001, the first 和 only Spanish musician in the orchestra’s history. Prior to his appointment with the Philharmonic, he held tenure with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, 和 at age 18 he was assistant principal 和 later acting principal of the Baleares Symphony Orchestra in 西班牙. He has recently performed as guest principal clarinet with the Berlin Philharmonic under Sir Simon Rattle.

Mr. 马丁内斯 Forteza appears regularly as a soloist, recitalist, 和 master-class teacher at international festivals 和 conservatories, including the International Clarinet Festival of Chanchung (China), ClarinetFest 2009 (Porto, 葡萄牙), Buffet Crampon Summer Clarinet Festival (Jacksonville, 佛罗里达), University of Southern California, Mannes School of Music, the Juilliard School, New Jersey Clarinet Symposium, XI Encuentro Internacional de Clarinetes de Lisboa (葡萄牙), Mexico Clarinet Convention, 和 I Latinoamerican Clarinet Congress (Lima, 秘鲁). Past 和 future engagements include solo performances of Copl和’s Clarinet Concerto, Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto, Weber’s Clarinet Concertos Nos. 1和2, Krommer’s Concerto for Two Clarinets, Rossini’s Introduction, Theme 和 Variations for Clarinet 和 Orchestra, 和 Luigi Bassi’s Fantasy on Themes from Verdi’s Rigoletto. He frequently collaborates with Philharmonic colleagues in New York City venues such as Avery Fisher Hall, Merkin Concert Hall, 和 Carnegie Hall.

Mr. 马丁内斯 Forteza has also made recordings for radio 和 television in Asia, 欧洲, 和 the United States.

Pascual 马丁内斯 Forteza started playing clarinet at age ten with his father, Pascual V. 马丁内斯, principal clarinet of the Baleares Symphony Orchestra for 30 years 和 teacher at the Baleares Conservatory of Music in 西班牙. Mr. 马丁内斯 Forteza earned his Master’s degree from the Baleares 和 Liceo de Barcelona Music Conservatories in 西班牙 和 pursued advanced studies with Yehuda Gilad at the University of Southern California, where he won first prize in the university’s 1998 Concerto Competition.

Mr. 马丁内斯 Forteza is also currently a member of the faculty of New York University. A Buffet Crampon Artist 和 V和oren Artist, he plays Green Line Tosca Buffet clarinets 和 uses V和oren reeds 和 M30D mouthpieces.
